A generative 1 language for the design of compassionate 2 digital experiences in the age of planetary-scale 3 computing.

Ambient Product Design is a generative design language for planetary scale computing. By shifting the approach from designer-centric to system-centric curiosity, we may enable more desirable relationships between ourselves and our surroundings.

Through the lense of APD, we investigate the systems we are part of, and the systems surrounding those systems. Instead of creating (digital) objects, we design the environments in which subjects interact, and from which objects emerge.

We call these environments Artificial Ecologies. They help us remember interdependence as we design.

Ambient Product Design doesn't believe in fragile systems that impose static rules on dynamic people. APD favors flexibility. It has only two rules that are used to generate a unique version of itself, adapted to your context.

Today, digital design lacks a vocabulary to encourage empathy.
